Dead Dove December

Hello everyone! This December I’m hosting an event for the Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal fandom that I’m calling, Dead Dove December! From 12/01/2023 - 12/31/2023 I’m encouraging others to create something that expresses their deepest and (most importantly) darkest desires. I will be reblogging all pieces of art or fanfiction, and will post a masterlist in January.

What is Dead Dove Do Not Eat?

Dead Dove: Do Not Eat, or DDDNE has its origins in one of my comfort shows!

The phrase comes from a meme referencing the 2003 Arrested Development episode "Top Banana", in which Michael Bluth opens a paper bag labeled "DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT" and, upon discovering that there is a dead dove inside the bag, says, deadpan, "I don't know what I expected." - fanlore.org

In short, what you see in the tags is what you should expect to see in the fic. This can apply for any type of fic, including the fluffy ones, but it’s usually associated with darker themes. That being said, this is your warning that this is a DARK THEMED EVENT. If you aren’t comfortable with darker topics like non-con, excessive violence, blood/gore, death, toxic relationships, 18+ age gaps, and more, then I encourage you not to participate in this event.

How to Participate

For the month of December, post your Dead Dove fanfiction or fan art on your blog. Use the tag #deaddovedecemeber2023 and tag me. You can also send a link via ask or DM if you like! I will not be posting anything for you, just reblogging and linking. At the end of December I will post a masterlist with links to everyone’s works! Side Note - Since Tumblr doesn’t really allow for NSFW art, you can post your work on Twitter or any other site that allows it and just send me that link so I can add it to the masterlist.

Rules

You MUST be 18+ to participate. I will be checking your blog/social media to be sure. Please make sure your age is easy to find. If I find that you’re a minor or if your age isn’t readily present I will be blocking you and you will be unable to participate. You can just add that you are over 18 if you don’t want your age out on the internet. As the creator and promotor of this event, I need to know I’m not interacting with minors given the nature of this event.

The work MUST be dark in some way. There’s no limit to how dark your work needs to be or can be, but it needs to contain some sort of dark theme in order to qualify. If non con isn’t your thing, dub con via stockholm syndrome or brainwash can let you write a more comfortable scene while still remaining dark. Fics and art do not necessarily need to be NSFW.

Do NOT post anything before 12/01/2023. I will not count submissions prior to that date or after 12/31/2023. Masterlsit will be posted in January.

Your work MUST contain the proper tags. I won’t police how detailed your tags should be, but, for instance, if your work contains non-con, and you didn’t tag non-con then your work will not qualify. Please be inclusive in your writing where you can.

You may submit no more than two (2) pieces. This can include a fanfic and fanart, two fanfics or two fanarts. This is to allow someone to write a piece and make a work of art to accompany it.

I’m not going to yuck someone’s yum, but there are some things I’m just personally not comfortable with and since I’ll be reading/viewing all of these, I have a few things not allowed in the event. The list of what’s NOT allowed is shorter than the list of what IS allowed so here’s a list of the things that will NOT be tolerated in this event:

No underage/aged up minor content - To clarify, this includes things popular ships like - TLOU 1 or Show Ellie x Joel or Miguel O’Hara X Gwen Stacy. No "ageing up" minors for the purpose of a fic.

No Bestiality - To clarify, monsterfucking does NOT count as bestiality (at least to me). For example, werewolves, venom, Khonshu, e.t.c. are all allowed.

No incest - To clarify, step-sibling/step-parent relationships are permitted as long as everyone is 18+. Selfcest relationships are also allowed (like Moon Knight or Miguel with his alternate self, e.t.c.).

If you’re unsure if something is allowed or not, you can send me a DM or an ask for clarification prior to posting.

You can use any prompts you want or none, you aren’t tied to any one idea but here are some to get the ideas flowing if you need them!

Also, you can absolutely use a fic to inspire your art, or art to inspire a fic! Your inspiration piece, whether yours or someone else’s does not have to be from December, but you MUST obtain permission from the original creator before I promote your work. Most creators are happy when their work inspires others, and all my fics are open to being used for inspiration, but please reach out to the creator first.

I’m very excited! I’ve never done anything like this before so things may be updated as I go so bear with me! Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Who was pepose arguing with? What was he saying because I can’t seem to find it on twitter

David Pepose was arguing on Twitter with a system who's a friend of ours. They didn't tag him or hashtag his series. They simply tweeted that they were disappointed at how Marc's expression of Judaism was being handled in the series, which is a very valid criticism.

Pepose writes Marc as being riddled with guilt that appears very Catholic in its nature. Pepose describes Marc's motivation for his Moon Knight work as being based on penance for his guilt. This is in contrast to MacKay, who finds motivation based on a kind of tikkun olam, "repairing the world," which is more in keeping with a Jewish character.

Pepose singled our friend out and put them on blast to his followers by publicly arguing with them on Twitter. They're a very small account, and again, they didn't tag him. For him to have even found their tweet, he must have been scrolling through Twitter for criticism of his series.

I think he's been on Tumblr, too, because he blocked us on Twitter (where we have the same username), even though we haven't tweeted in over a year. I think the only way he would've found our Twitter is by reading our critical posts about his writing on Tumblr. It feels unhinged for him to have to have intentionally searched for us on Twitter and blocked us.

These are possibly the posts that he's seen. They were responses to two Anon asks:

I am deeply disappointed that Pepose's "City of the Dead" series seems to be every bit as bad as expected. Marc appears to be a singlet with "questionable mental health" (Pepose's own ableist words); he doesn't appear to be part of a system in this series.

Despite being Jewish, Marc seems to worship and identify with Khonshu, an Egyptian deity. Yes, Marc is in servitude to Khonshu, but that service is begrudging, and he understands the irony of that service as a Jew (as MacKay has written expertly in his run). For Pepose to write Marc as an enthusiastic disciple is bizarre.

Layla is written as some sort of spirit guide who is leading Marc on a quest through the Egyptian underworld. This has all sorts of Orientalist implications. Let me say it more clearly: She is a brown person being at the beck and call of a white person, acting as their spirit guide... Yeah, no thank you! The very "on the nose" Eye of Horus tattoo on her cheek was a giveaway to how she's being depicted here.

I cannot recommend this series, and I won't be supporting it financially, as much as I desperately want to support Layla El-Faouly's Marvel Comics debut. I've canceled the pre-order of the second issue, and I won't be buying the rest of the series, either. I cannot in good conscience support Pepose or give him our coin.

Au where one night pre-series, when Steven is trying to stay awake, he just starts live streaming a talk about egypt. He opens with an introduction and explaining that he has a disorder and needs to stay awake. The stream goes for at least four hours. At one point there's a long aside where he's talking to gus instead of any viewers.

What if every once in a while Alfred has to force Bruce to go outside for a bit bc it's in the tabloids that this man is dead and u got people already setting up memorials or w/e bc they think it's real This Time and u got people calling trying to find out the arrangements for the estate and it's all over Twitter that there's a secret will and depending on the day sometimes Bruce's response is just to put on a shirt that says "not dead yet (sorry)" and stand in front of a traffic cam for a while

Some 5am thoughts regarding my newest creative blurb featuring teen!Moon Knight reader.

So I’d imagine that since the Khonshu who accompanies reader is from another universe, he doesn’t hold as much power compared to the Khonshu of Earth 616.

This would mean that he can’t protect the reader as well as he wants to (much to his dismay). So while the reader can heal, it just takes longer, especially fatal wounds. For instance, a stab wound could take minutes to heal rather than seconds.

And because of this, I feel like rather than using a variation of the ceremonial armor Marc uses, the reader has a more modern look (while keeping the likeness of the usual armor of course) with more metallic pieces than wrappings covering her vulnerable areas to avoid preventable injuries. And of course the signature cape (that she can remove at anytime to avoid any problems).

Weapon wise, she would use both the crescent knives (which would also come from her chest as well) as well as the escrima sticks Steven uses. The reader would also use a sword (maybe a bronze sword or a khopesh, or whatever blades Layla uses as the Scarlet Scarab) to deal with larger adversaries she comes across in her multidimensional travels with America.

I’ve already come up with a name for this character I’ve created (rather than referring her as reader), so if anyones interested in hearing that, let me know. Or if I should just keep referring her as reader to appeal to the masses. Either way, let me know. More ideas on the way!

So it’s been a week since I’ve posted my Khonshu/Marc/Steven x Eternal!Reader idea (seen here), and my mind has been wandering, crafting scenarios surrounding this idea. And I thought, why not share? Especially since a lot of people seem to like this idea.

I would like to note once again that these ideas are free for anyone to write about, I’m not planning on writing anything about this (at the moment at least), so if anyone wants to write a Moon Knight fanfic involving an Eternal!Reader, go ahead! I highly encourage it!

Moving on to my additional thoughts:

So after the reader reveals herself to Marc/Steven (how does Jake factor into this I’m just realizing?) after the deviant attack, and when she reveals her purpose for being on Earth and her past relationship with Khonshu, how would the Moon boys react?

I’d imagine they’d both be angry, Marc more so than Steven (at least in my mind). They’d question whether or not their relationship with the reader was genuine, or if they were just being used as a means to see Khonshu? And there’s the fact that she isn’t from Earth, and that she’s a being more than 7,000 years old sent by some cosmic power to protect humanity and helped shape the history of the planet, while at the same time not interfering with the atrocities committed by humans. So I’d imagine they’d be quite angry with the reader. She of course tries to explain this to them, but a fight breaks out (the Moon boys aren’t as understanding as Dane), and harsh words are thrown at the reader (by Marc, Steven is mostly quiet).

And then she has to go.

“Marc, Steven, I need to take care of this.”

Marc laughs humorlessly. “Of course you do.”

“Marc-” she sighs.

“No, you know what? Go. Take care of your ‘mission’, or whatever the hell it is that you were sent here to do, and leave.”

“……I’ll let you know when I’m done.”

“No, do both me and Steven a favor and never talk to us again.”

So the reader goes with Sersi, Sprite, and Ikaris to find the others. And as they progress along, she calls them when she can (they never pick up the phone) and leaves messages telling them about her journey.

“Hey, just landed in the States. We’re headed to Ajak’s place, I’ll call you when we get to her house.”

“Hey, um, so we got to Ajak’s. She……got attacked by a deviant and is…………Anyway, we’re flying back out again, probably going to find Kingo. Let me know if you get this, we’re in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m not getting any service.”

“So, I’m realizing that you’re both probably ignoring me. Which is totally fair, believe me. I should’ve told you guys the truth from the start, and I regret not doing that. But regardless, I’m going to keep sending you updates. Though you’re most likely not going to listen to them anyway. We’re heading to Australia to get Gilgamesh and Thena. I’ll be sure to update you on our progress soon…….I miss you, both of you.”

“Hey, sorry I haven’t called in a bit, things have been…..hectic. A lot of bombshells have been dropped and things just got much more complicated. I don’t want to bore you with the details, I’ll uh….tell you both all about it when I come back. Hey uh, when’s the last time you called you’re dad?”

“Screw the theatrics, I don’t even know if you’re even going to get this. We’re in the middle of the god damn Amazon, because Druig thought it would be a grand fucking idea to place his cult here of all places. He’s a stubborn bastard, but if we’re gonna pull this off we need him. I meant it earlier when I said you should talk to your dad, you uh, never know when he’ll kick the bucket, so to speak. I miss you guys, I wish I could talk-”

“We were attacked by deviants, Gilgamesh is dead……..he died protecting Thena. I’ve lost two of my family members in the span of a few days, and my friend is giving me the silent treatment. Are we even friends anymore? I know you said not to talk to you guys again, but frankly, I don’t know what I would do without you two.”

“……..I think this might be the last time I call you. I get it, I’ll stop contacting you. I just……I guess I was hoping that we could put this behind us and move on. But that’s obviously not gonna happen, is it? And frankly, I don’t blame you guys for ignoring me, you both have every right to hate and despise me. Just……yeah. Have a good life you two.”

“I know I said you wouldn’t hear from me ever again, but I just have to say this before the world is inevitably blown apart by a newborn celestial. I love you both, so so much. I just wish I got to tell you that in person, and not over the phone when I’m heading towards a live volcano to put a celestial to sleep. Regardless, I just wanted to let you two know. I’ll see you when this is all over, that is if you even want to see me. And if we don’t fail, and Ikaris doesn’t kill us. I probably should’ve mentioned that previously-”

It’s past 5am when I’m writing this, and I’m shit at writing dialogue (especially about feelings), but I just wanted to get this out before I fell asleep. If some of what I’ve described isn’t coherent, let me know, and I’ll discuss it further in length when I’ve gotten some shuteye 😂

I also wanted to add this kicker. I’d imagine it’s when Marc/Steven try to call the reader after (finally) hearing all the messages she left (it only took until they saw the Celestial emerge from the ocean on tv to hear them), only to get hit with this when they try to call her.

“We’re sorry, you have reached a number that is disconnected or that is no longer in service…..”

So…..do with that as you will 😈

Once again, anyone is free to write anything regarding what I’ve given out. As long as I get a shoutout, I’m content with anyone taking what I’ve said and writing their own story.

My obsession of Moon Knight is starting to take over my creative thought process. I just came up with the idea of a Moon Knight x teen!reader where the reader is the daughter of Marc/Steven (with Jake being more like an uncle figure towards the reader) and Layla. But here’s the kicker: she’s from another dimension where her parents are dead and has taken up the mantle of Moon Knight after her fathers passing.

In my delusional state (I’ve been bedridden with a massive migraine for the past few hours unable to fall asleep), I’ve come up with a plot where America Chavez winds up in the readers dimension (where Marc/Steven/Jake and Layla were both snapped, but never returned cause the avengers never got the stones back, leaving the reader on her own), and the reader decides to join America and protect her from multiversal threats coming to take her power. This all leads to Multiverse of Madness, and after the events of the movie, the reader stays on Earth 616 since she has no one to go back to on her own Earth.

I’d imagine this would take place after Season 1 of Moon Knight, so Jake is Khonshu’s avatar without Marc/Steven knowing. So when Khonshu (of Earth 616) senses another avatar of his, he sends Jake to investigate and to dispose of the “imposter” (when in reality it’s the reader with her own Khonshu (who btw is very protective of her and has become a surrogate parent of sorts to her since her parents were blipped)).

This leads to them fighting, they’re both trading killing blows (which don’t work cause they’re both healing from the suits), and the reader doesn’t know who exactly she’s fighting (other than it’s this Earth’s Moon Knight) until the last second when she recognizes Jake’s voice. And in a moment of disbelief, she whispers “Tío Jake?”

And then…….yeah that’s all I got. There’s bits and pieces after this, but I think I’ve shared enough for one post. Might share more later (who am I kidding, of course I am, I have no self restraint whatsoever).

My #1 post of 2022

HOLY SHIT I JUST CAME UP WITH A GREAT IDEA FOR A MOON KNIGHT ONESHOT (SERIES?)

Khonshu/Marc/Steven x Eternal!Reader

Think about it. Some of the Eternals were depicted as historical figures/gods (Thena as Athena for example), so the same could be said the reader. When in Ancient Egypt, the reader was depicted as one of the Egyptian goddesses (Maat?) based on their powers/abilities. They meet Khonshu, and they slowly become friends, bonding over their appreciation for humanity. Maybe it slowly grows into love?

But as time went on, and the Eternals moved on to other places around the world, and the Ennead start to abandon humanity, they start to argue with each other about interfering with humanity’s progression (Khonshu over his duty to protect those of the night, and the reader over only protecting humanity from the deviants and leaving humanity to fend for themselves over other matters). After one massive argument, they part ways, and continue on their own paths.

Fast forward to modern day. After the Eternals defeated the deviants and parted ways, the reader finds herself staying in London with Sersi and Sprite, and helps Sersi with her job at the British Museum. Now this could go a number of ways, with the reader meeting Marc during his Moon Knight business, or with Steven at the museum. With either of these routes, the reader and Khonshu finally reunite after a couple hundred (maybe thousand?) years apart. Now in my mind, the plot of Eternals still hasn’t happened yet, and the reader is still keeping out of human affairs. So the reunion with Khonshu and the friendship (maybe pairing?) with Steven/Marc could go either way. Regardless, Steven/Marc don’t know about the reader being immortal or being able to see Khonshu and their relationship.

Now to when the deviants come back. Reader is with Sersi, Sprite, and Dave (maybe Marc/Steven tag along?) The deviant attacks, Marc/Steven find out about the Eternals (and their previous relationship with Khonshu), and they and the reader fight over their friendship (among other things). Reader then leaves to find the other Eternals, and two things could happen:

1. They die along with Gilgamesh in the Amazon (or maybe even by Ikaris) and upon her return to London, Sersi breaks the news to Marc/Steven and Khonshu before being whisked away by Arishem. Leaving the three mourning for the loss of their friend/lover.

2. Reader comes out alive, and reunite with Marc/Steven and Khonshu in London, and they all make up. Only for the reader to be whisked away by Arishem.

Regardless, it ends in angst (cause we have no clue where Arishem took Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos at the end of the movie, only that they are awaiting judgement for disobeying orders and killing a celestial).

But that’s my idea for a oneshot (maybe mini-series). And since I have no creative bone in me whatsoever, I’m just gonna toss this idea to the jackals for one of you guys to pick up and do something with. I’ve got finals this week, but I just had to get this idea out there to share with you all before the finale this Wednesday. I really enjoyed Marlene and Reese’s conversation in the annual, and I think it highlighted some key things about each of their relationships with Marc and the themes of the MacKay run writ large. However, I feel like I reacted to this conversation quite differently than many other people, both in terms of sympathy towards Marlene and in terms of what I got out of their conversation. So of course I wrote a long-ass analysis post.

MARLENE: Are you in love with him, Reese?

REESE: Pfft, please. He’s hardly my type.

I am actually really glad that someone in-universe asked Reese this. I don’t think this concern is substantiated at all, but we, the readers, are viewing this story very differently than it would be viewed by the people participating in it. We can see the characters at all times; we can look into Marc Spector’s head and know what he is hiding; we have knowledge of all past runs, we have access to Jed MacKay’s Twitter. In short, we have all the information available to recognize that Marc and Reese aren’t romantically involved or interested in romance - they are friends! Marc helped Reese adjust to her new life as a vampire, and she is helping him be a superhero and maintain his mental health, and through this they have recognized parallels in their trauma and that they just plain get along.

But. In-universe, stripped of our knowledge and the context that we know and understand through our familiarity with the characters and access to their private minds and lives, what we have is a ~18 year old girl who is newly estranged from her parents who has now moved in with a ~40 year man with a history of violence. With no other information, that is a pretty sketchy situation.

Now, I absolutely do not think Marlene is concerned about Marc being in love with Reese, wanting a relationship with Reese, or doing anything to harm Reese physically or verbally. Marlene knows Marc, and she knows he wouldn’t. In this scene, Marlene isn’t jealous or trying to make the conversation uncomfortable; she is trying to suss out Reese’s reasons for being here. Reese isn’t in love with Marc. Reese doesn’t think of Marc as her dad. Reese views them as friends. She is “in his corner” but “not blindly beholden to him”. An equal.

(Also, “he’s hardly my type”? Lesbian Reese agenda 2k22.)

REESE: But he needs someone in his corner. All his old super hero pals dropped him, except for that snitch Tigra. He needs someone who’s not his doctor, who’s not blindly beholden to him, who’s not mixed up in all his moon-god crap.

Reese is right that Marc needs someone to support him. Marc does need someone who isn’t his doctor, or a yes-man, or into Khonshu. But hoo boy, “that snitch Tigra” is a waving red flag. Reese says way back in issue 3 that “they say all these things about you. [..] About what you used to do to people,” and Marc affirms that, but does Reese get it?

Tigra is watching Marc for a reason, and Marc knows that and is okay with it, and it doesn’t mean Tigra and Marc don’t care about each other. Framing this as “snitching” - something that’s come up in the main run, too - to me indicates a with-us-or-against-us mindset. To Reese, Marc is the guy who saved her and who she’s trying to help save in return. She hasn’t integrated that guy with the “bad person who did bad things,” as Marc puts it to Dr. Sterman. (To Marc, he’s the bad person, and not the guy who saved Reese.) But those are the same guy. The same Marc Spector, the same Moon Knight, the same Steven Grant and Jake Lockley alongside him.

MARLENE: You like him. I get it, he’s likable. Him, Jake, Steven, all of them. You want to protect him. I get that too - he’s got a lot of problems.

REESE: He saved me, saved lots of people --

MARLENE: That’s the thing. He saves people. Everyone except himself and the people closest to him.

This isn’t saying that Reese should leave. I’m not at all interested in her deciding Marc is bad or that he actually needs to be taken to task. Reese doesn’t need to sit down and watch a slideshow of Marc Spector’s Worst War Crimes and "learn” that that counts more than his dedication to keeping an abusive man away from his spouse. It is GOOD that she cares about who Marc is now more than anything else, and I think that aspect of her friendship with Marc is good for him.

However, if she maintains a mindset that Marc should be protected, that Tigra being willing to secretly assess Marc as a threat is a betrayal instead of the consequence of trying to take over the world, she runs the risk of sliding into codependency. And again, Reese is ~18 years old. She cannot be the only person in Marc’s corner, regardless of the strength of their friendship. That’s pretty clearly what Marlene is referring to here - Reese may want to protect Marc, but she can’t save him. Marc is terrible at taking care of himself, and he’s worse at supporting the people who are supporting him. Stab a guy? He’s got you. Acknowledge that your brother died in front of you? That might be a problem. If you want to be the guy in his corner, you need to know that and know how much of that you can take.

MARLENE: I get that too. I thought that could be me, once upon a time. It was exciting, at first. I loved Marc. And Steven. And Jake. But that was a long time ago.

And Marlene should know that - for years, she wanted to be the person in his corner. Marc was the guy who saved her from Bushman, and who she dedicated her life to saving in return. She helped Steven build his fortune; helped Moon Knight infiltrate terrorist groups; worked to maintain their cover story and secret identity. Marc Spector was giving up his existence as a killer mercenary and becoming Steven Grant, a philanthropic millionaire, and Moon Knight, dispenser of justice in Khonshu’s name. There is no doubt in my mind that Marc and Frenchie alone could not have made that transition, and that Marlene was key in facilitating that development. (Just go back and read the series where Marlene is living with them vs. the ones where they’re separated - there is a pretty sharp divide in how well they’ve got their shit together. Moon Knight cannot effectively function without a support system.)

But did any of that work she did actually matter? Now Marc Spector is giving up his existence as the killer disciple of Khonshu and becoming Mr. Knight, neighborhood hero, and Moon Knight, dispenser of justice (but only begrudgingly in Khonshu’s name).

What did Marlene get out of it? A daughter; a lot of enemies; knowledge that her partner/s loved her but wouldn’t change.

Of course she thinks Reese is getting into essentially the same shit as she did all over again.

But like ... is she right?

MARLENE: We broke each other’s hearts over the years, again and again. In time, horror outpaced the excitement. You’ll see that, eventually.

Well. There are two answers I can give.

The quick blunt answer is that Moon Knight’s defining trait has become that he is mentally ill and does not have his shit together. Will future runs allow him to maintain whatever recovery he makes in this run? My money is on no.

That’s a pretty unsatisfying answer, though, and it completely ignores what MacKay is setting up himself, and I’d argue that the guy whose work is actually in front of us is more worth debating than the potentially infinite future guys. So! In the greater context of this run, I find it impossible to argue that MacKay wants us to think nothing good can come from Marc. Reese and the other vampires are free because of him. Ordinary, everyday people come to him for help. The people in his neighborhood recognize him and trust him and want him there. Soldier’s mother doesn’t blame him for what happened to her son. The House of Shadows loves him.

The thematic question this run is posing is, “can Marc Spector change?” and the main run is answering ... yes! He can let Steven and Jake in again. He can tell the people in his life he has DID. He can go to therapy and take it to heart.

In the annual, Marlene is answering no. She does not think he has really changed, and he will eventually backslide, as he always has before. He is still promising that he can totally quit being Moon Knight and be the partner she always wanted when they both know that is a lie. He’s still a person who needs to be talked down from murder by his elementary-school aged daughter. Moreover, this is a necessary pushback to the main run’s “yes” answer. Marlene’s stance here isn’t wrong. It’s just not universal. If this shit was easy and obvious, we wouldn’t be able to make an overarching emotional throughline out of it, and we need to be shown the roadblocks (people who don’t let you back into their lives and the desire to slide into old bad habits, among others).

This pushback also helps us elaborate on our thematic questions. It’s not just CAN Marc change, but how much effort is Marc willing to put into becoming a stable person to be close to, with whom a long-term relationship of any kind is viable? If he has to choose, will he choose Moon Knight or his human relationships? Will he emotionally support his friends, or only expect their emotional support? If Marc changes, will that even matter? Does being Moon Knight do anything meaningful for the people he hurt? Or is it all for Marc Spector?

Within the context of MacKay’s run, I think Marc and Reese will be fine. Marc has already made the critical step of telling Reese about his DID. Reese, unlike Marlene circa the Moench run, is not interested in Marc making up for his past; she wants him to be good now and that’s enough for her. Reese isn’t going to ~learn her lesson~ about being naive and trusting someone who’s ~crazy~ and ~violent~. What matters isn’t what Marc has done in the past; it’s seeing his behavior in the present with clear eyes and making sure they’re good friends to each other, not just in one direction. (But make no mistake, there will be horrors. Just horrors that they can face as parts of a team.)
